E60 Heater Fan speed problem.

My Ride: 530D SE
I have exactly the same problems, except that my rear demister started working again without any intervention. My fan won't speed up past 2 and the other day wouldn't come on past a mere trickle. Very rarely I can get an increase past 2. 6 hours at ?100\hour sounds scarey!!!
