Hi guys
I am going to change gearbox ga6hp26z on my 535d e60 2009 at my local Indy
I've been told that I may have to reprogram the new gearbox
Anyone know how this procedure can be done without going to the stealers?

Does the manual transmission have a control module attached to it? If so, can you swap the control unit from the old transmission to the new? The car then will "see" the controller and carry on as if nothing has been changed.

Your car being a 2009 model will have the 6HP28 gearbox.
Don't swap the gearbox mechatronics because they're matched to the gearbox mechanicals.
The paddle shift isn't working because the gearbox doesn't know you have one; it needs to be told (coded).
You need the gearbox coded to the car to get everything to work properly and you may need a software update to the car or gearbox to bring them into line as well.
With the right tools (i.e. main dealer) it's pretty easy so it *might* be worth seeing how much a dealer would charge....

Not INPA (that's basic diagnostics) you need ISTA-P which is fairly rare outside BMW dealerships. It can also be done with some other software tools (WinKFP and NCS expert I think) but you need a serious specialist who knows exactly what they're doing.

The gearbox ECU is the mechatronics unit which is inside the gearbox and is a pretty major component of the gearbox. If you changed the gearbox because the old one was faulty the fault could have been in the mechatronics.
