Terminal 30g relay controls power to sunroof, electronic transmission control module, dynamic stability control, radio, telephone and various other electrical consumers in car.
It is controlled by the CAS and can be turned off if the IBS senses the battery state of charge is low and there is excessive closed circuit current (like sitting with the engine off for an extended period of time playing the radio with the rear defroster on) or if there is an undervoltage fault in the power system.
Very common for this relay to trip if the alternator voltage regulator goes bad and the battery is very low on charge. On startup after the ECU and CAS sense that the alternator is not ramping up to supply voltage and the battery is low, a low system voltage fault is thrown and the relay is tripped, interrupting power to the transmission module, stability control module and dynamic drive module, setting off a dash full of fault lights.
The relay normally gets very warm to the touch, but they can fail, usually due to a cold solder joint, which increases circuit resistance and causes more heat until it eventually fails altogether.
If you are worried that it is really hot and failing they are about $20.
