Hi, about 2 months ago my 2005 530i failed it's annual inspection due to movement from the inside front suspension bush. It's the arm that's closest to the driver, and the bush is attached to the subframe. When I got home I jacked it up and saw that the bolt was loose so I tightened it stopping the movement and the car then passed. There had been popping and knocking noises comng from the car on full steering lock for a while but I was a bit lazy check it out. The noise came back and when I checked he bolt again it seemed to have worked loose again and when I move the wheel I can see the bolt and nut moving a bit inside the bracket.
Now my concern is that this has been going on for some time and the aluminium bracket that supports the wishbone has become enlarged and this is the cause of the knocking and movement. Im going to get a new nut bolt and washers and see if just replacing them and torquing up the bolt correctly solves it. Does anybody have any advice/experience on what I should do? I also don't know the torque it should be set to. I know it's a long one, thanks!
