E60 Front Drive Axle - Plastic Seal Deflector Available as Separate Part?
See photo - I've pulled both my front axles from my 2010 535xi to change the differential seals. The axles have these plastic deflector rings (I can't think of a better name for them) which keep water / dust from directly splashing against the differential seals when installed. Both mine are broken (the photo is an older one). Anyone know if these rings are available as separate parts? I can't seem to find anything - they are not indicated as separate parts on RealOEM. If I can't fgure this out, I'll just replace them without, but it seems these rings would do a good job of protecting the diff seals. This set of seals failed after on 60,000 km.
Interesting that it is a replaceable part on the rear axle. I doubt these fit, but would be interesting to see if someone could provide dimensions for them.

Just a quick follow up - never did find them available separately anywhere. Dust shield is the proper term from what I could find online. The ones in the rear are made from metal - definitely not the same. Put it back together without the dust shield, will try to keep the seal face cleaned periodially when doing tire and oil changes. Thanks all.

The next time you need seals for a part, try https://www.motion.com/?utm_source=g...BoCaPAQAvD_BwE. If there is no location close to where you are you can simply take pics of the parts, include part numbers where available, measurements, and forward by email. They recently sold me $35 seals (pair) that a manufacturer was asking $500 for 1.
