It's nearly impossible to buy a new BMW and not have it updated or totally replaced "in the next 3 years." BMW has followed a very regular program of totally replacing models every ~7 years, with a facelift in between. Other changes, such as engine changes, can occur even more frequently.

IMHO, one "point" to a facelift is to spur sales. 3 year leases are common, and having something even a little different every 3-4 years must help with customer loyalty/continuity. It would be hard to tell all of the 2004 E60 leasers when their lease is up that the 2007 is exactly the same look as the car they just turned in.

Welcome King of the Hill.

Hopefully they will only carry out simple cosmetic changes, similar to E39.
I expect we will see more engine changes, different colours and LED rear lights.

I bought my first E60 at launch and they changed the colour, exhaust tail pipe and door handles (wood instead of alu) within what felt like a few weeks!
Car still looked the latest though.

On the E39 it was easy to update by adding angel eyes and wheels. Lest hope BMW keep the basis shell the same

hey ya man, if you wanna stay a KING do not go for the "mass" 3 series.
I am buying a 530 in May so also tried here the 3 series it with dynamic or perfomance line (EU versions) awesome, aggressive etc, the space for rear it is ..... more than enough even my 190 cm friend could sit behind me, my wife next to me, BUT the trunk I could hardly put a medium luggage and the driver has to squeeze himself th eceiling so low, yesss I did adjusted all the functions in the sport seat.
So me I admire the new e90 3s but go for the e60 I'VE GOT 5 ON IT

Here is a PS request for any of your graphics experts. Try and modify the front end headlights of the E60 to look like the the new 3er. just clip the dame edna rim a little and I think we are looking at the face lift.

Worst think they could do IMHO its the trade mark of the E60. Don't you mean stick the E60 headlights and grill on the E90 and then take the squint of the backend. That'll be the facelift.

Only my opinion. The E60's a beaut.

I agree with you. However it seams that BMW (Bangle) tested his design first on the 7 series, toned it down for the 5er and then went really conservative (responding to the market and the press) with their bread and butter 3er. The modified 7 addresses the "Bangle Butt" They might facelift the the E60 by taking off the Dame Edna spectacles. I'm just guessing. I love the E60 too. I would rather less Godzilla in the front though.

It's also interesting to note that the Facelifted 7, did not get the same grille treatment as the new 3 or 6 series.

I would have expcted (Not necessarily approved of) the same grill treatment in the E60 facelift.
