Hiya Guys,

I'm a new user. You know the deal - long time user, first time contributer!

Does anyone know when the E60 will get its facelift? It must be soon because as BMW changed the engines in the cars they also made them lighter by using magnesium, ala the 525i. Therefore they must have messed with the 'near perfect 50:50 balance routine'. So consequently they will have to change and adapt this.

Furthermore they will also need to upgrade the spec in line with the new 3 (e90), ie 325 comes with 17", but 525 has 16"!

They will also need to add things like the start/stop button now featured in the 7 and the 3 as well as DSC+.

So please hazard your guesses and anyone in the know please HELP!!!!!!!

I belive the real facelift would occur for MY2008, about 1/2 way through the E60's product cycle. BMW does facelifts between the 42nd and 48th month of production. This seems pretty cast in stone, otherwise the E65 and the Z4 would have been tampered with earlier.

That said, BMW has been doing more minor changes earlier to the E60 than were done to the E39. Wood replaced metal on the door pulls, new A/C control knobs, more wood on the console, changing the sport package (for MY2006), messing with the plugs in the rear bumpers, etc. The engine upgrades are not such a suprise, as the E34 got revised engines after a couple of years. BMW did not want to chance introducing another new body with new drivetrains as it did with the E65. That car was over ambitious. The new N52 six was first installed on the 630i, so that production could ramp up slowly. Apparently it works well in the real world, so the engine is spreading to the E60, E90, and E65 (Europe only).

I believe they already did change the standard wheel size in the US to a 17" for MY05. The only 525s with 16" were MY04

Welcome aboard, King of the Hill !

DSC+ was allready added to the E60 in March 2005.

Of course they have plans for a facelift, but since there has not been any spyshots yet it will still take some time. You can expect changes for 2006/2007, if they facelift the E60.

Welcome to the forum, King of the Hill. Frankly, I really hope they leave this model alone; however, we all know this is not possible.

Do a google search for "BMW DSC+" and you'll run into a lot of useful information on the differences between DCS and DSC+.

No, it's not just different software.

Not just a software update, it's a hardware change.

Hiya,

I am really worried about this because I am currently weighing up between a 3 and a 5. I dont want to buy the car and then see it facelifted in the next 3 years. Can you please tell me whether MY2008 means 2006/7 because I am not familiar with how the UK model years run.
:'(

They have made small revisions to the 5 all through its life so personally I cannot see the point in a facelift - I mean what the hell would they do to the shape?

I would have thought that any facelift would happen when they change the internal electrics of the car, which will happen when they introduce comfort access (ie stop star etc) in september this year, but maybe I am wrong!

OH PLEASE HELP!!!!
