Only thing I don't like on the E60 is the panel gaps. The gaps between body panels on the E60 are so large it simply has to be a design feature (as opposed to poor build) and it spoils the lines. Much less of an issue on the darker colors but on a silver or silver gray E60 it's too prominent. Other than that, the E60 design in general is top drawer.

I know that we all love our E60s but if you had to point out your least favorite exterior design, what would it be?
My least favorite would be the trademark BMW kidney grill. I think it's too much like the Pontiac.

If you look at the flanks of the E60, you really see some the unique design concepts. Awesome really. The the rear end makes a bold statement. Despite the new introductions with Merc S class, the M45, and GS 300/430 series, the E60 is completely unique as orginally presented. A fresh autobmile, like it or not. Of course I'm baised as this site would sugggest, But one should not forget the inherent superior driving dynamics of the E60. A superior choice IMHO. When discounting relative the higher cost ( 4K to 5K more than its new competitors), the 5er is a complete no brainer and superbly satisfying choice.

No dislikes here. Well, when I open my hood, the engine is sort of exterior, and it needs at least 400 HP.

Can't think of anything I don't like the exterior. Maybe there are few areas that has room for improvement, but I happy the way it is.

The sharp pointed nature of the taillamps, when viewed from the side. I would have liked it if the part white reflector portion of the taillamp would have been omitted, and have a steeper vertical demarcation between the body and taillamp rather than the sloping angle that currently exists.
The car looks awesome from head-on, and from straight behind though!! This is what sold me. And love those Angel Eyes!!!!

Two items:
Looking at it from about a 45-degree angle from the back, the farther end's corner of the rear bumper looks kind of obese; kind of like protruding upper thighs on the side of an otherwise fit woman.
The grill's "corners" need to be more square, especially the outer lower corner. To my eyes, the rounding of the grill's corners are the greatest design issues with Bangle BMWs (in addition to the "flattening" of the dashboard.
That said, I am on my 5th Bangle BMW in a rather short time.
