Default Has anyone installed a proper stereo in these things? (mid-fi 676 option)

I have an 08 535i and Im looking for advice on how to transform it into a proper sound system.

From what I understand, our midfi stereos are different from the 3 series platform thus I cannot go off their recommendations (still not sure that's correct though...)

Has anyone built a complete system e.g - Idrive to DSP and aftermarket amps, speakers, wires, sub box
I see that many 5 series owners have added a sub but almost nobody has done the entire system.

Note: I dont have the logic7 which would allow me to use iDrive's digital MOST connection and instead am stuck with the Midfi which has speaker leads coming directly out of the HU to the speakers in doors/rear deck and to a 2ch amp in the trunk for under-seat bass

Options:
S609A Navigation system Professional
S645A BMW US Radio
S676A HiFi speaker system

Any ideas, or even where I can go to look?

You can start here: https://www.bavsound.com/Stage-One I've heard some good things about them.

Your other option is to upgrade to a Logic7 11-speaker system. There IS a difference.

In my case though, I want to build a complete system. Bavsound's approach is replacing speakers and keeping everything else stock.
Im thinking:

1. Technic PNP wire harness from HU that goes to trunk
2. JL Fix to De-EQ the sound
3. 10+ channel DSP to shape the signal
4. 6channel amp front + 2 channel amp for rear + 1 channel amp for SUB
5. Fully active three way speakers in front
6. Passive two way speakers in rear
7. JL audio SUB stealthbox in trunk
8. new speaker wire, grounds, power and sound deadening throughout

For some reason full upgrades are rare in the E6x crowd (which is a real bummer)

That's because the radio is integrated with the onboard computer. It's definitely not a walk in the park to totally replace the system.

I run a quasi-L7 system in my car but completely aftermarket parts.

Since I upgraded to CIC, the system looks like this
  1. CIC speakers out ---> JBL MS8 speaker input : 4 pairs of Flat full signal (I used a new set of wires and crimp the pin connector to put into the quadrlock connector behind CIC.
  2. MS8 --> 2 channel amp to power the 2 underseat woofer
  3. MS8 --> 4 channel amp to power front door components + rear deck components
  4. MS8 --> 3 speaker out to center and 2 rear door midrange.
Then the rest is only setting up your MS8 for proper output then. I only coded my CIC stereo for the full range signal out of the 8 speaker wires. For this kind of setup, I only new power wires, new speaker wires, new ground wires for the amp/dsp and completely discard the original sound system.

Hope this helps
