I am having problems with my remote keys. I can only lock/unlock my car from about 1-2 meters away. Aux heater remote and FM radio work ok. My car is a 2006 535d E60. New remote keys are quite expensive so I would first like to check the antenna amplifier. Only that I don't know where it is located? I found some info about E61 antenna amplifiers but nothing on E60.

Please share if You have any info!

As said above check the batteries in the remotes! Also if it does work put it by your head, it will boost the signal - no joke!

Hello

this kind of behaviour might come from Diversity ANtenna... I got the problem on my E61.

Here is how to access to Diversity Antenna on E60 : http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6738336/Diversity_E60.zip

Main document is "RA Removing and installing_replacing antenna amplifier (diversity.pdf", the other ones are the preliminary task to do.

I will check my manual, the antenna for the key remote is in the back window, and IF there is an amplifier for that it would likely be mounted close to that point, perhaps nestled in the c pillar somewhere. The diversity antenna/amplifier setup is for FM reception - there is a separate loop for the remote - all in the back window.

I not sure if the battery can be changed as mine are the ones that charge during driving...

Hi

key signal reception is handled by the Diversity Antenna, which is also responsible for FM reception... but only one feature can be affected by a problem.

I had this exactly same problem on my E61.
Check the ZIP file above

I have yet to see a BMW key remote that cannot be changed. I've owned every kind and the batteries are all changable. They may say they're not but their lying.

On cars with out comfort access the key fob is a sealed unit and it is charged while in the ignition lock. As for the poor remote reception that is due to the diversity amplifier.
