e60 Air Cond
Hello All i have a 04 530i i cannot get the a compressor to come on its own i have INPA and get 3 codes for the ihka module. iam able to get the compressor to come on via INPA but not with the climate module. in idrive the settings are all to cold and the actual knobs are at 62 degrees. outside temp is working and is currently saying 74 outside. pressures are right on the money and the cooling fan is variable with the pressures.

The a/c compressors in the e60-61's do not have a electrical clutch to cycle. They are a variable displacement compressor that is on all the time. When the IHKA calls for cooling, it sends a electrical signal to a solenoid, mounted in the compressor, to ramp up-down, based on need for cooling or dehumidification.
The displacement of the compressor changes continuously based on load.
Will the system begin to work if you go for a 20 minute ride and come on as the drive progresses. If so the solenoid valve is becoming sluggish.

My Ride: 2004 530i
Ended up being a bad ihka module purchased one out of an 06 model and air conditioning works as it should now. Not sure what failed in the ihka module but all is well now
