hi guys, i'm trying to replace my struts which has been leaking oil. and i've been ignoring the problem because of the cost associated with it. anyways..
i got two part numbers:
31316766998 right
31316766997 left
they run about 300 a piece for my sports suspension.
i'm trying to get aftermarket struts for cheaper.. would you know of any other brand that i could replace the OEM with the aftermarket but maintain the ride comfort and quality..
Thanks in advance.

I have the same issue as the OP. The Bilsteins do not look like they will work with active suspension' "Will not work on cars with electronic or self leveling suspensions"
Is this accurate?
Any other alternatives to Sachs/OEM?
Thanks,
Bill

I was able to find a set of sport suspension bilsteins. Do you have air bag suspension? There is a difference between sports and self-leveling suspension. I have OEM sport suspension and DD. This should not be an issue If you have struts and springs.

How do I know if I have airbag/self-leveling suspension? Is this the same as Active Suspension/Dynamic Drive/Active Roll Stabilization System?
Thanks,
Bill

Maybe I've had too much to drink on this fine Thursday afternoon but I don't believe an E60 with a self leveling suspension exists, does it? The message on their site seems to be pretty generic.
The active suspension on the sport cars doesn't add active struts so those should be able to be freely swapped out between any car but the M5 which does have adjustable struts. The active suspension pre-loads the sway bar but that's not going to have any effect on the struts.
