Now that Progman 25 is available in the States, I've got my car scheduled for an update in a couple of weeks. I will also provide them with the SIB that instructs them to use the "2-1 Tip-in code" correction, which I hope will remedy the problem (among a couple of others I have). I'll report back when it's done.

ABC - if you get yours back before I do, please post your impressions on whether 25 corrects the "jumpy take-off" problem.

Progman 25 installed, 2-1 tip in code done.......................no difference, slam still present.

What a surprise.

The 320D loaner I had for 3 days whilst they did it had a superb transmission, no hint of tranny slam.

I just got my back car from the dealer for this problem and gave them the update I found on this forum. Transmission slam problem was resolved.
In my experience I would drive the car for 30 to 60 days before saying that any of these transmission related issues are resolved. For some reason it takes that long for the problems to ocure again after the software updates.

After driving my car for a week with (the ever loving) CIP 25 installed I have noticed NO improvement regarding the transmission. To throw salt on the wound my 2005 X5 4.4 transmission slammed again last week. What is the deal with these transmissions? The only good news is that I am working with BMWNA to try and resolve this.

BMWing, are you sure they ran the 2-1 Tip-in Code program when they updated you to v25? I got mine back last week and it's like a new machine. Buttery smooth shifts, no slams, and even the stutter-stop issue seems to have been resolved. Now I can't wait to go for a drive every morning!

I have verified the 2-1 Tip-in code was installed 8 weeks ago. That's when I felt the problem was possibly solved but after around 30 days the transmission was back to the same old 1-2nd gear jerky/hesitation/slam problems. I have 25.04 and it made NO difference to the transmission.

I have noticed that after a few days of use the 2-1 problem has crept back a bit, which is to say it doesn't feel as smooth as it did the day I got the car back. My fear is that the 2-1 Tip-In Code that initially fixed the problem is being thwarted by the "learning" transmission. I'll bet the Tip-In Code also flashes the tranny's memory so it has to start learning (or screwing up) all over again. The problem is tolerable for now but if it gets any worse I'm going to take the car back in and have them rerun the Code to test my theory.

In my experience the problem will return completely within 60 days.
