Hi guys i have an 06 e60 540 with auto transmission over a period of time ive been hearing a metallic clank type noise when i select drive or put in reverse ,i was thinking maybe universal joint on prop shaft is worn or center bearing . i have also been told that theres a know fault with a bracket that holds the torque converter in place on the 535d and 540 that comes loose and moves on its bolts and needs replacing that can cause similar noise ! car drives perfectly no noise or vibration when in motion noise is only heard when selecting drive or reverse or when slowing down and coming to a stop so basically it same as engaging drive etc im thinking or hopeing its uj or center bearing !! anyone had a similar experience any input would be appreciated
