I know 18" wheels have 43 offset for an Xi and 20 for a RWD but is that true for a 17" wheels too?


Are 17" wheels have different sizes (7.5 or 8) on the front and back, do they have different offsets (43 vs 20) and also what's the widest tires can one put on them?

The wheel diameter, width and offset are all independent of each other. On any E60, you can have 17, 18, 19 or 20 inch wheels, from 7 - 9 inches wide, but for the xi, the offsets all have to be in the 35 - 45 mm range.

Staggered sets have wider wheels in the back than the front, but the wheel diameter and offsets should be the same. Someone else will have to comment on the tire size question. That will also be dependent upon whether you have lowered your car or not.

I am referring to OEM 17" wheels here? Do they all have the same Offsets or they are different for X-drive and RWD?
