Hi there,
Newbie here with a question im hoping you guys can help me out with....PLEASE !!!!!!
A little history...........
Car is a 2004 530i SE,just covered 83k.I have owned the car for 5 weeks now and i have a persistant noise that is evading being found..
Noise sounds like a dry bearing.
Noise appears around 20mph,then gets really noisy at 35-40mph...
Noise is rotational and increases with vehicle speed...
Initially i thought it was the Runflat tyres.. So i bought another set of wheels with new non run flat tyres.....Noise was still there
NEXT.....
Went into the garage and they suspected front wheel bearings.........Had 2 new ones fitted at a cost of £560............Noise still there..
The car was "driven" whilst on the ramp, and the rear wheel bearings were checked with a stethoscope type device,as was the diff bearings... All quiet as a mouse...
So..........The propshaft is suspected....
Has anyone ever had a propshaft bearing go,or is this common on an E60 ???
Any help or information is more than appreciated..
Having spent around £1500 in the last 2 weeks im running out of cash quickly!!!!!!!!!

Diff has been checked,i take it this is what you mean by axle ??
Car has no accident damage.
I havent had a 4 wheel alignment done on the car,but cannot see why this would cause a bearing noise..??
