I think 285 on the rears is pretty much as wide as you can run, without having to roll the fenders. A 305 seems to wide to me. Maybe if you leave the car on stock height, you might get away with it, but this will look eh..shit

Haha.. Well go for it!

I did notice that running 275 at the rears makes the car feel heavy, even more so on normal alloys ( I have 10.5 J ), so I guess a 305 will feel even more so. Dont know the make of the wheels but a nice forged and light wheel is a must with such a wide tire....

And know that I see the first post again... 255 at the front seems to wide as well. I run a 245 and that fits pretty mich flush on a 9J wheel...

I am going to be fitting 255/30 R20s and 295/25 R20s soon on my M-Sport suspension equiped E60. The wheels are 9x20 ET20 and 10x20 ET32. My calculations concluded that they will fit. In fact, the vendor included 5mm and 10mm spacers, claiming they'll help fill out the arches. I think the fronts will be ok, but not convinced that will work with 10mm on the rear. I'll give it a go when I have them fitted, to see if there is enough space, but think its likely that I will end up running them without spacers.

It comes down to the offset of your wheel. 305 is very wide. My rear wheels have quite a deep offset (ET32), so I have more opportunity together with spacers to position the wheel in such a way that it does not rub... well I hope that logic works!!

Good luck!

Yes, M5 front fenders are 10mm wider each.
