E60 530d particulate filter

Hi, I was wondering if a particulate filter would fit onto my 53reg e60. Obviously mine was made with not one on, being an early model thought maybe one of you guys would know?

Please excuse my ignorance but why would you want one? They cost about a grand to replace, given the choice i wouldnt have one.
