Hope someone can help me here. I've got a 2005 E60 530D with 41,000 mls on the clock, and the transmission developed a leak. My indy couldn't determine for certain whether it was just the main sump gasket or the O-rings on the electrical connector at the rear of the gearbox as well, so I agreed to have both replaced at the same time. This was done, along with a new sump-pan and filter, and new oil. Nothing else was touched. On completion, when starting the car in cold conditions, an alarm sounds, and "Transmission Failure" appears in the i-drive, along with the red cog-wheel on the dash. The car then goes in to limp mode, and will only travel at 40 mph. - Once the engine and gearbox have warmed sufficiently, (approx. 4 mls. driving), if switched off and restarted, the fault disappears, and the car drives normally. The oil level was checked and topped-up the following day, but the symptoms still remain.
I've checked for code errors with my Peake Code Reader, and the following show up; 46E3 Internal ECU 5 4dF3 Torque Gearbox OxB5 46E8 ??????? (Not listed). Anyone any ideas please? |
