Thumbs up

Hey there,

Bought my E60 2005 530d (auto) about a month ago from Germany. Yesterday I took it to my Dealer, to get some diagnostics done, just out of curiousity. Been driving with this car for more than 1 month, never seen any warning messages on the display myself though. The following errorcodes were read (will write only the most important ones):

5EBA DSC: Steering-angle sensor, plausibility (frequency: 1) 130680km
94E7 SZL: Steering-angle sensor, wiper contact (frequency: 5) 138600km
5F1A DSC: Performance reduction (freq: 1) 143688km
4507 DDE: Exhaust-gas recirculation (freq: 1) 148648km
4020 DDE: Exhaust backpressure sensor before particulate filter, signal (frequency 255, fault type: permanent) 155832km
4687 DDE: Throttle valve (freq: 1) 165616km

My current mileage is 169300km. I guess the serious ones are the "exhaust backpressure sensor" and "Steering-angle sensor, wiper contact" errors. Does the "steering-angle sensor" error mean that its basically dying, or its just a common malfunction in E60-s? Have seen this problem quite often on the forums, and mostly it has gone away itself, without any need for replacement. "Exhaust backpressure sensor" - this seems to be pretty serious (frequency 255). Does it need to have the whole particulate filter system replaced, or only the Pressure sensor would be faulty?

Thanks in advance!
Rene

RESET the steering angle sensor. Erase all the diagnostic codes that are present now.
Drive for few days and see if any of those errors come back.

This is how you'd RESET the steering angle sensor. Start the car, turn the steering all the way to the left, turn the steering all the way to the right, center the steering, turn off the car. That's it.

Thanks for this, will try it out asap! Any ideas regarding to the particle filter errors though?

Cheers,

oh and 1 more thing. Recently I found out that the idle is a bit rough (but only very little), when the engine is warm. With cold engine, there's no problem. The faultcodes also indicated 4 faulty glow plugs (out of 6) - could this be the cause for the small idle spike when warm? I read somewhere, that nowadays the glow plugs in diesels are not only used for cold starting, but also when running at low rpm (idle) aswell.
