Default E60 525XdA Frequent CCC "false" failures messages

Hi, my name is Lee.
I am in Spain and have a problem with CCC unit which has got worse and I contacted a company in Germany with the following message:

“I own a BMW 525Xd, manufactured in 2007, purchased originally in Belgium in January 2008, currently being used from my home in Tarragona, Spain.
I have always enjoyed the car, which is running perfectly after 220,000 kilometres, but right from the start, rarely initially, the CCC sent false warnings. With age, these warnings have become more frequent and more recently the park-assist does not function correctly.
A qualified technician here has tried, various resets, as well as replacing the CCC with a used one found here. Unfortunately, the improvements from these attempts were short-lived.

I have two questions for you:
1. From your experience, is it worth the risk to try other second-hand CCC units to try to resolve this problem and if so, what would be the mandatory characteristics the used unit must have, e.g., series, reference numbers or other essential attributes?
2. Are you able to permanently fix my existing unit and if so, what do I need to do to send the unit to you and what is the carrier that you use to do this?”

Here is their answer.

“Thank you for your detailed message from sat. 23.03.

first of all, please provide me the VIN (vehicle identification number) of your car so I can see exactly the production date. This is mandatory for giving you any advises on your problem.

(From on 03/07 there is the LCI of the car and also the CCC module has been changed)

What I can say from my point of view already is that all CCC modules (not depending on pre or LCI) have problems when it comes to the age of the modules.

There is no exception. So I would rather not recommend you buying another used module. The best way to solve your problem is to perform a qualified repair on your present module.

Within a qualified repair the following will be done:

  • Hardware repair on the module including all known weaknesses
  • Programming to the actual Software (ZUS form BMW
  • Coding the unit to your cars VIN (so it is ready to use for you after receiving it back from repair)

Our actual repair service is covered by a 2-year warranty.

With this your problems should be solved.

The costs of this repair service are 269 Euro

For the shipping of the defective unit, we can provide you a cost-free label for the parcel from DHL local operator for DHL should be Correos.

If you want to use our service, please provide us your contact details so we can send you the Label.

Payment of the repair can easily be made via paypal. For this just provide us your paypal e-mail address so we can send you a payment request over the repair costs.

If there are any further questions, please let me know.”

I am not very knowledgeable about this.

Does the answer seem from someone who knows what he is talking about?

I am a little nervous about this repair being done remotely from the car.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

What is the company name? Sending it off to someone else is your only solution if you can't find anyone locally. If I read it correctly, you already attempted a change and it was short lived meaning it may not be a CCC issue. Hard to tell with the lack of codes and/or what is it actually doing. Usually these reboot when they go bad so I'm not sure what you're actually trying to fix
