E60 2004 (53 Plate) UK - No factory amp and terrible audio. How can I install an amp

I have an E60 2004 (53 plate) and am really unhappy with the audio. If you turn it up the audio crackles (but not on all songs) especially on the vocals.
This is an EU E60 and has 2 speakers in the front doors and 2 speakers in the rear parcel shelf. People have said there is 2 small subwoofers in the front seats but I wouldn't believe it.
However this is no amp. Has anyone made a guide or can give advise on how I could install an aftermarket amp into the car so I can atleast install some decent speakers in the car.
Any help would be appreciated.

It all depends on what you want, and how much money you are willing to use. You have the following options in my view.
1) Upgrade your existing speaker system with treble speakers in the front doors and in the parcel shelf.

2) Upgrade you existing systems to Hifi
3) Upgrade to full ProLogic 7 with 13 speakers.

Solution 1 I would think would result in a error from the airbag system that needs to be reset.
Solution 2-3 involves making a new wirering loom for the speakers, some cutting in the rear doors, custom fitting of the speakergrill in the rear doors, coding of the car in the end to make it work, and resetting of the airbag error.

"The audio crackles" - you sure you don't have a blown speaker or two? Might be worth checking that everything works as it should before throwing money at it.
If it has subwoofers, they're embedded in the floor beneath the front seats. You can see them if you slide the front seats forward.

All 5'series from 2004-2010 have 2 subwoofers under the front seats. The only difference is the quality.
I had standard speakers in my car, and have since upgraded to prologic 7.
The difference is enormous
