E60 “Service Requirements” gone from iDrive

Hi all,

I’ve owned my 2003 E60 530i SE Auto for about 2.5 years now. I’ve carried out a few changes in that time including retrofitting the big screen display and CCC unit. It’s been in and working for probably a year or so but recently the service requirements menu has become greyed out and isn’t selectable.

Can any of you advise on this? I have NCS and so on to do any coding and I’m fairly confident with carrying out such jobs. I’ve made some small coding changes for my lights but I haven’t touched the CCC yet.

That's odd. I would try recoding the CCC. I would first take a copy of the current coding, then flash it with a blank FSW_PSW file. If the menu returns, I would then flash back your original file.

Yeah it is weird! I actually have just tried to recode the CCC this evening. I made a backup of the existing coding, then simply turned the CBS option off in CCC and sent that to the CCC. The menu disappeared completely as expected. I enabled it again and then it came back, also as expected.

It didn’t solve the issue I’m having though. The service requirements part is still greyed out and not selectable. It’s a bit like enabling DAB and not having the module installed.

So I’ve flashed it with a blank file which has made no difference. The menu is still not selectable.

Is this linked to another ECU perhaps?

I read somewhere once that it is also stored somewhere else for redundancy in case the CCC or whatever unit you have needs to be replaced. I’m not certain of where but would guess DME or KOMBI. But I would think it wouldn’t be blank...

I would do update my Kombi, idrive and DME to see if makes a change

The DME is one place I haven’t looked, I’ll give that a go. Thanks guys!
