Hi All,
I have been thinking, over the past month that I have had my car, how much it is like a digital camera--and not necessarily in a flattering way. Today, when I saw the thread on who shoots with what, I thought: Finally, I can give voice to my opinion. See how many you can add to the list: 1) Shutter release lag=That unsettling pause in the ignition after you have turned the key all the way forward. Maybe they "fixed" this by adding that silly button... :P 2) Purple fringe (a la Nikon D70 and others)= Those Xenon headlights that make everybody's bumper look purple until you get right up close. 3) The dreaded Menu botton=The dreaded iDrive knob. 4) Autofocus in the dark=PDC Parking warning system, even looking out the back window. 5) Optical and Digital Zoom= Active Steering (It's 30% smoke and mirrors) I'm sure there are more, and hope you'll contribute. Cheers, from behind the Olympus E-1, :geek: Ray Hull |
Humm... ok... but as long as its the Canon 350D Rebel XT the ///M5 must be a EOS-1Ds Mark II
I guess the 545 is the 300D Rebel and the 550 is the 350D Rebel... and Booooooooooooooooooo I want the 350D!!!! and obviously I want the EOS-1Ds more! :wow: |
Auto-focus = Steptronic. Not for the purist.
Lens hood = Sun visor. Essential equipment. LCD Display you can't quite read in full light = well, LCD Display you can't quite read in full light (or HUD, take your pick). That hard to reach button for flash button at the front = heated steering wheel button that's impossible to locate (what were they thinking?). |
My 530Xi Gas Mileage on Highway (as advt) : 28 :)
Actual : 22 :( Canon S50 Digital Camera battery life (as advt) : 300 :) Actual : 100 :( |

The slowness of the iDrive, while not a great analogy, squares somewhat with slow digital cards versus fast one. 4) Autofocus in the dark=PDC Parking warning system, even looking out the back window. 5) Optical and Digital Zoom= Active Steering (It's 30% smoke and mirrors) I'm sure there are more, and hope you'll contribute. Cheers, from behind the Olympus E-1, :geek: Ray Hull DSC/DTS are like underexposed because one can't exercise enough control in auto mode. Auto shifting versus manual shifting are like cameral auto mode versus manual mode. Dirty lense = dirty headlight lenses. Dirty LCD/viewfinder like dirty windshield. Big Nav screen versus small one like camera 16:9 versus 4:3 aspect ratios. Screen displays (date, time, etc.) like camera "screen" displays. Bright and dim headlights like camera flash versus not or white setting. BMW beep/sound warnings like camera beep/sound warnings. Low battery warnings obvious. Out of gas like out of storage. I quit for now, but I'll be back. :) |
