My '04 545i is a sport model (no electronic shocks).

My '08 X5 has dynamic drive with active roll stabilization, dynamic steering, and electronic shocks. It has the "sport" button and the shifter moves to the left. The "sport" button firms up the shocks/ride only.
My 04 545 sport says DS when I move the shift lever to the left. That's sport mode.

It has the sports suspension & dynamic drive. It does dynamic stabilization all the time.

thanks for all the replies, especially that bmw link. I already had the wrong shocks in my cart and ready to order today, but now I know I have dynamic drive, so I'll get correct ones.

Yes, that is how mine works. I was hoping someone would confirm (or correct me) about my statement that in '04 electronic shocks were not available. Anyone?

take the last 7 digits of your vin and see what options your car has.
this site will tell you.

So yeah, I've used that decoder site numerous times. I see nowhere in there anything that states "Dynamic Drive" or "Sport" anything. However, my shifter does display "DS" when moving the shifter to the left. I've put my car up on a lift and looked around the suspension and I DO in fact see those level sensors that are connected to the front angle joint or vertical sway bars. Which leads me to believe that I DO have Dynamic Drive. I have yet to confirm whether or not I have Dynamic Drive. Can someone please help me figure this out along with one other thing?

Holy Cow! this is the very first time anyone has been able to direct me to exact verbiage that says "this is how to tell what you have." Feels like sweet sweet victory! well, almost.... I don't have Dynamic Drive.
