you need a new dvd drive for your ccc unit, not a cleaner.

My car is not CCC. I have business navigation on a M-ASK car and a DVD slot. However, in the town I live, there's a lot of dust, much more than anywhere else I've been, so why not, maybe it entered more into my slot.

most optical drive manufactureres recommend NOT to attempt to clean the laser with any sort of alcohol or abrasive cleaning liquids

With reservations and as a last resort, I used a cleaning DVD on one of my domestic players and the inability to read discs was entirely removed and it is now performing as new.

I am also taking about a cleaning DVD disk... I don't know how "alcohol or abrasive cleaning liquids" came into this discussion.

And, in case you missed it, in this single case, it worked.

Either the English I know is not helping me, either you're too cryptic for me. I know it worked in your single case, but what's this supposed to mean? Recommandation to use it in my car or not?!?

However, my reply was addressed to HAMTT, who was talking about "alcohol or abrasive cleaning liquids".

most cleaning disks provide alcohol based solutions that you apply to the disc to "clean" the laser with

Sorry, but no. This one is just a brush-disk, containing some DVD menu and animation while cleaning the lens. No liquids.
