Let me get this clear. Are you telling me MB can play DVD moves from their command system?

I am getting a MB next time... lol
If you are buying a car to watch DVD movies from its 6" screen, maybe you should

Poeople are watching movies on PSP and iPod. 6" screen is not bad at all. People in L.A. will do anything to kill time in traffic.

I agree it's dangerious to look at the tiny screen and drive at the same time, but it's a cool factor if the car has the function.

I just ordered the BMW56 Video interface from tvandnav2go.com. I am going to install it tonite, because I want to try and display my Laptop in the IDRIVE Screen.

Ill let you know how it goes.

I wouldn't recommend trying to display a computer screen on idrive, I tried it and you can hardly see anything. You're better off just looking at the laptop. I suppose if you were going to play a DVD from your laptop it would be alright, but if you're going to try to do anything else it's not going to be much fun.

I don't know what you tried when you displayed a computer on the screen but it looks pretty good in the pictures from TurboDMan's "carputer" installation:

Everything showed up fine like that, but I couldn't read anything on there. Trying to scroll through music on iTunes or anything like that, it was impossible to see. Anything that shows up very large like "Windows XP" is fine and if you were going to look at pictures it would be fine. But trying to find the picture name so that you can open the file is impossible. At least for me, but I do wear glasses so maybe I'm just more blind than I thought.

Can anyone tell me what would be a good ipod interface for an E60? That could also play the videos or movies.

I don't doubt you can watch movies on a 6" screen. My point is that if you are basing your choice of car on what "video replay" options it has, then perhaps the extra money for "the ultimate driving machine" is a bit wasted. But if all that counts when choosing a car is "coolness", then suit yourself.

Yes it's amazing how people persuade themselves that such screens can deliver a watchable image. Having seen stills of movies delivered by some of these interfaces it seems that nothing is more important than "filling the screen" irrespective of original aspect ratio.

When browsing in electronics retailers I find it truly amusing listening to what potential customers call a good picture. It must make the sales process so much easier when the buyers don't know what they're looking for - apart from something slim and digital to complement the rest of the slim and digital decor.
