So....what you're saying is you like FREE?
What I'm saying Dude is that I like the proformance and safety I get from RFT's. If they are good enough for BMW to design the suspension around them they are good enough for me and FREE is a bonus. The way I look at is Dunlop is picking up the tab on the tires until I get my 2009.
cheers

i know there is something out there but i though it was fixed. just picked up my 530i and it has dunlop sp 01's on them...did they fix the problem or should i have them replaced like others have.
I have just had a dunlop SP1 replaced due to a puncture. It looks exactly the same as the others, which are 18 months old. So not sure if it is 'fixed' but it does look identical in every way to older tyre.

I had my original set of dunlops replaced by BMW, and the issue reoccured again. They would not replace my second set because they found rim damage. I replaced them with the same tires from Tire Rack about 7 months ago and they are still riding great and quiet from the day I got them replaced.

How big was the damage on your rim? Warp? Scrape?

Tell your service manager you want them set at the LOWEST recommended pressure. After I did that, mine became much more liveable...but not enjoyable. I am on my second set, (12k before OEMs were unbearable any longer) but they are stored in lieu of snows right now.

Relax and enjoy,

I just replaced my OEM Dunlops with Goodyear F1 GS-D3s this weekend and the noise difference between the two is like night and day. The Goodyear?s are so much quieter and smoother than the Dunlops. The car feels new again. So far I have not experienced tramlining. The only downside is I can now hear some squeaks and rattles coming from the backseat area.

According to BMW the slight warp on the rims were causing the tires to go bad not the defect in the tires. BMW did not honor my second claim. I was told to buy all new rims and they would give me new replacement tires. Since then (about 8 months), I have replaced all 4 tires using the same rims and have not experienced any tire irregularities or noise. What I suspected from the beginning, BMW just found an excuse not to honor my second claim as other members have been able to do.

I took my 545 in last summer to add the AUX input and also complain about tire noise. They told me the noise was normal. I had around 6,000 miles on the car at that time.
Now I have 15,000 miles on the car and I decided to take it in again this week to complain about the tires, car not starting one morning (45 minutes later it did), engine shudderes every now and then, feels like it's about to turn off and also the window anti-trap warning keeps coming on. Two days later I have 4 brand new dunlop tires and 2 new front window motors. They tell me they can't find any faults with the engine and all is ok. I guess 2 out of 3 problems taken care of aint bad.
