I know they're asymmetric...but are they directional as well?
(i.e. can you rotate them side to side?)

They are not directional so yes, you can rotate them side to side. Before rotating them, you might want to read some of the discussions we've had here on the subject since there might not be much of a benefit in doing so...

Just a note to let you know that I've just had all 4 of my Dunflop Thumpflats changed at 10800 Miles.

I now have Goodyear Excellence Runflats - I had no choice (lease) - but what a difference to the Ride quality.
I have the Sports Suspension and now there's no 'Pinging' when cornering on rough roads - even at the same highish tyre pressure I run.

1. What does it matter if you have a lease>? You dont have to stick with runflats-for that matter you could slap new rims on there as long as you put the stock back. But as for tires-you can give them back the car with non-runflats

2. I spoke to my service tech here and he said they no longer recomend tire rotation unless you have some "reason" or see some extra wear on one side of a tire that is out of proportion due to some type of driving condition. He said the benefit of rotating is nil and they no longer do it as part of regular maintence so dont bother.

3. Do you guys outside the usa really spell it "tyre"???? l wtf is that!

Do you have 123's as I with 245/40 18's?

I still have some 4-5 mm's of thread left.

Just put the better ones rear - no matter what tyre.

PS. My original summer '04 Dunlop tyres (and wheels) are still going strong, for the 4th summer!

I the UK - if you lease your car with 'Full Maintenannce' the Lease company picks up the tab for all servicing etc but they can also dictate which tyres to use / not use. They also record the vehicle mileage & tyre 'born on' date to try and prevent swapping out.

And yes - we Brits call our boots Tyres and not Tires - We also smoke Fags, use rubbers at work & pay over 8 Bucks per Gallon of Fuel!
