DSC/DTC off, oh my

I've been playing with the car in the snow lately, and since DSC ruins the fun* at the first sign of slippage, DTC is the preferred mode for more 'spirited' driving. However, DTC still reins in the fun a bit too soon.

Turning DSC off (well, as 'off' as you can) is another thing indeed. Lots of slip and cornering WRC style. Too much fun. JB4, AWD, manual mode and Nokian R winters FTW!

You do, however, need to be 'on the ball' or you'll stuff it into a tree. As soon as the urge for fun passes, turn DSC back on. You may regret it otherwise...

*most recently, just about got clipped when it engaged during the 1-2 shift and practically stopped the car...

Hi

If you Press and hold the botton for aprox. 20-25 seconds you switch both DSC and DTC off !, now the "fun" can begik :) , next time you then turn the engine off/on the DSC/DTC will be reset back to default and fully engagede again ( safty feature , so you dont drive off with a disablet system )

Indeed, takes about 15 seconds on mine, then DSC INACTIVE shows and the fun can start. But is it truly ever fully off?

I had an '07 Infiniti G35x AWD where if you switched off the VDC (Vehicle Dynamic Control) it was a hairy ape that just spun out of control no matter how you drove, so I always just left it on. The Bimmer is a very different beast.
