Interesting...DTC is a subset of DSC so I don't know why the button would change unless that photo is from a car that doesn't have DSC?

I thought DSC was standard (which includes DTC) so unless it's an option and the car in the photo doesn't have it, I'm not sure why they'd do that...

The new car's have a DTC button instead of DSC. Since my last software update I also have a DTC light coming on in the instrument cluster when I start my car.

The reason why they changed the name?? I don't know. But my thoughts are exactly as Rudy that DTC is a lesser lifeform from DSC (but in the end both buttons do the same).

Hold down the button to disable both.

I have a DTC button on my 1 Series, but the car also has DSC (short press turns on DTC, long press turns off DSC).
DTC is a newish feature, but is not activated by default (where DSC is on by default).
This is the only reason I can see why they would change the button name.

Ya I think in 2005 they changed it. first press kinda disables part of the DSC where it will allow some wheels spin for use in snow conditions where you need some wheel spin to get the car moving. Holding it for 3 seconds or longer totally disables the DSC.

SO I guess BMW did this so people in snow conditions can get their car moving with some wheel spin but also have DSC to save their butts when they get in trouble later on.

Yep, MY2005.

The function is still the same. It is DSC as standard, but a lot of ppl were looking for the DTC activation button (didn't RTFM). BMW decided to switch the name of the button, to make it a "turn DTC on" button.

Well.. is DTC activated or is it just parts of DSC being deactivated?

Anyway I'd guess the button has changed name to prevent confusion.

Eh basically the same thing...

Activating DTC is like esentially disabling part of the DSC to me.

BMW technically calls it Activating DTC.

LOL! I had to pull over in a Denver snow storm and read the manual about the DTC and DSC! As snow plows scraped past me, I sat confused going WTF! LOL Feel for ya brother.
