It's all about 'area under the curve'. Shifting at 5k puts the next gear in the meat of the curve, maximizing thrust. JB4 is is in the plans, but there's no E85 here.

I have the 530, so no boost for this guy. Thank you for all the responses. Good feedback. I'm not sure if any of you are familiar with a pbox (data logger) but I tested both the MT & DS mode doing a 1/4 mile run on a 2013 X3 this weekend, for anyone that cares 1st run was in Sport mode, it did 1/4 in 15.7 @ 89mph & 2nd run was MT mode,it did the 1/4 in 15.0 @ 91.2mph. Could be other variables too, but the runs were back to back. I know a lot of people would question why you would want performance data from an 06 530, or a 2013 X3 but that kind of stuff floats my boat! :-D 99.99% of the time I drive it like a saint. but I always have to get one full out run with the pbox on everything I own
