I was driving with a flat run flat tyre last week. While driving it makes a very loud noise; so loud in fact that people look at you while you're driving past. According to the technicians this is normal? Anyone have a similar experience of this while driving with a punctured run flat tyre?

My experience occured on the M1 - nobody was looking at me at the time!

But I didn't noticed any particular starings as I was brining the car into the garage - I was just pissed off at my luck!

Were you able to repair the puncture and if so at what cost?

I have runflat too on my e60 530d (sport pack,123 rim 18") but no abnormal noise on driving with those wheels.

 :)

Mark-Yorkshire.
Luckily they repaired the puncture at a cost of ?20 not sure what a new tyre would have cost if I had to change it.
The main tyre man was off sick in the BMW garage, so they had to take it to a tyre specialist to repair it. The junior technician was not confident in taking off a run flat tyre from the wheel and to repair it.

I have the 18" style 123 wheels.

Thanks for the responses. I'll register on this forum soon. Once I think of a name!

I'm the Guest who created this post. Hello to all.
Just thought of a name for myself BMW530. Not that creative I know.
Would have added the UK but thought BMW525UK might say I was copying.

lin83,
Wow ?280 is a lot of money. I assume it was a BMW dealer that said it could not be repaired?
Where was the puncture?
Mine was on the tread itself with a brand new screw in it.
I only had the car for 1 week but it was a 3 month old car, so still a relatively new tyre as the car only did less than 400 miles.

Yes was Bmw dealer, but also checked with firm who changes tyres on company fleet, he said the glue could not be guaranteed for z rated tyres. Nail was right in centre of tyre and was only a slow puncture

lin83,

Thanks for the information. That's very interesting.
Guess I will have to check with my dealer; as it was them who said it could be repaired.

Thanks.
