Drive the E60 to Florida?
Going to Florida for 7 days at the end of March. The trip from NY to Orlando is 1100k miles. Not to mention driving around FL
lets give it another 300? So all in all 2500 miles . A rental will cost $450.
Have any of you ever taken your E60s on long trips 1k+? Was it an enjoyable experience? Should I do this?

I drove my 545i last winter to florida from buffalo ny. The trip was awesome, normally when we take another car i get tired of driving after about 8 hours. I drove the whole time - 1 hour to eat. so like 17 hours, got out of the car and was not fatigued at all. Plus you got a sweet ride down there compared to renting or driving down the family suv. I ended up doing close to 2700 miles round trip but we drove all over florida. I would totally recommend taking the e60. I was down there for over 2 weeks so not renting made it totally worth it. Plus we averaged close to 28mpg the whole time, and you get to meet some of the coolest other bmw drivers, like this guy on a bmw bike, we drove for hours together at 90+.

I?d say why not.
I picked up my 545 in Las Vegas last month. From there I went to Chicago to pick up some used winter tires then over to Manhattan for a quick meeting then back up to Montreal/home. Smooth ride, plus I got to use the motor in Utah and most of Colorado.
All in all, an enjoyable 3,000 mile experience.

I wouldn't personally. Why put all that mileage and road damage from stone chips and the like on your E60 when, if you can afford it, you can rent something then beat the shit out of it without worry.
Just my two cents - which seems to differ from everyone else who responded so far, although I think you may share my thoughts too else you wouldn't have asked such a question.
