To add insult to injury (see my earlier post below) after my whole upper control arm bolt fell off, I got the following error message on the idrive screen
?Drive control Sys. Drive Moderately & Start off assistance inactive!
I used the search function and found a SIB 34 04 06 for the exact issue.
So I took my car in to the dealer after the bolt incident and told them about the errors. I get a call from SA telling me that his mechanic can?t do anything past a visual inspection because I have aftermarket components ( coilovers) and basically I voided my warranty. At this point I?m like WHAT!!!
He said it will cost about 2hrs to diag the error and cost of the sensor. I told him there was a service bulletin on it, he said the key read didn?t bring any service or recall information up.
Anyways, I was afraid that he would tag mu VIN with this and that I would be hosed in the future. After some back & forth discussions, I got him to not tag the VIN and return the car to me so I can replace the stock suspension and take it back in tomorrow for a diag.
What a hassle. I can?t believe this dealer is busting my chops so much for a documented service bulletin.

My Ride: 2006 525XI, Jet black on Dakota beige. Premium and winter packages. I consider myself a purist and intend to keep my car absolutely stock and shiny.
2008 328I Convertible, Sapphire black on beige interior. Premium package, NAV, iPod adapter.
Retired: 2002 325I, Titanium silver on black leather. Premium package. Absolutely stock and proud of it.
Unfortunately, as wondeful as all the mods are, they add ammunition to marginal dealers to turn down a low-profit repair under warranty. They would rather take on the non-warranty work which yield much more profits.

Sorry to hear about your issue + the hassle that you're
having to go through just to get this repaired under warranty.
Best of luck and hang in there -- keep us posted!
