remember to lighten the car light.
less fuel.
take out the crap in the boot and inside.
go for a $hit lol.
check tyre and air.
give the car a clean and possish.

I think you should try is get a sprint booster and test it with and without
I might get the sprint booster in a while.

Let us know what your traps are for the car, it would be interesting to note how close you can get to the published times, and how your experience was. My one and only time to a legitimate drag facility was in 1999, when they were having a local "run what you brung" race to benefit something I fail to remember now. Anyhow, I trundled over and entered my 993(S) and had a ball. I ran three times, with an average time of 11.88 secs. Each time got quicker as I got more comfy with the starting tree. However, there is a downside to all this fun, drag racing exacts a high price from the car, brakes get very hot depending on how long the run down part of the track is. Clutches don't last long under the brutal onslaught either, especially when you get on the go fast pedal quicker than letting go of the engager pedal. Enjoy yourself, ? of the fun is looking around the rest of the participants and shaking your head in bewilderment . There were guys, and girls who showed up in big, diesel pickups that had been chipped, piped, and running propane injection that were turning in mid 13?s. Numerous 18 year olds in coffee can muffled, twin 14? woofers, with nitro and fake wings running 40 feet and exploding. Motor cycles of all types, lowered station wagons, and girls in bikinis and straw cowboy hats. Kids running around on 4 wheelers? Truly a slice of America that one has to experience at least once.

When I get my 545i I wanted to go to a legal drag strip to drag race my friends. Of course I would do this after about 2-3 months, once I have gotten used to the car. But I am just concerned about safety. So I just wanted to know what the dangers of drag racing are.

The car is stock and I would keep the electronic stability control on. Is it difficult to control the car at a speed of about 120mph? I've seen some guys push a 545i to 288km/h without a problem. What are some ways to make it safer?

Thank you

-Krozi
I have had my 545 up to an indicated 160 mph, the electronic limiter must use the real mph not the usually optimistic speedometer. The car was very stable but a little move on the steering wheel results in a larger than anticipated lane change, all very controllable though. Stopping distances will be much longer than you're used to. My 535 with the limiter removed has not seen above 130 yet, but I am curious how fast it would go- just have not had the opportunity to do it.

What could go wrong? The same things that go wrong at 55 mph just that you crash longer before you come to a rest. I would check your tire pressure. The biggest risk that you can't control is the actions of your opponent and the condition of his car. Good luck, don't drive faster than you are comfortable and have fun.

The trick with dragging the car is to remove everything out of the trunk. I mean the spare tire(I think we have a spare), you set of golf clubs, kids random crap, ect to reduce the wieght of the car. I would also take off the traction controll and warm up the tires so they could stick better for your launch. You may also have to lower the psi in the tires for better grip as well. Have fun.

I can't think of a less likely drag strip car than an E60.
There was a guy in a town & country in bracket racing here locally. If nothing else, he was consistent.

Brake torque to about 1200 -1500 rpm with rft tires. Turn off DSC and DTC. Have fun with the christmas tree.
