When I get my 545i I wanted to go to a legal drag strip to drag race my friends. Of course I would do this after about 2-3 months, once I have gotten used to the car. But I am just concerned about safety. So I just wanted to know what the dangers of drag racing are.

The car is stock and I would keep the electronic stability control on. Is it difficult to control the car at a speed of about 120mph? I've seen some guys push a 545i to 288km/h without a problem. What are some ways to make it safer?

Thank you

to answer one of your questions the car is stable as it can ever be. You can be going 140mph and it will still be straight, smooth, and in control.

Well one thing to know in Texas at least. If you are caught street racing they throw u in jail and take your car away. Take it away as in never getting it back and you will still be paying for it. I knew a rich girl whos parents bought her a brand new evo, she got caught street racing, and they took her car away permanently. Her parents bought her another one a few days later.

Wow, but I will be drag racing at a licensed legal drag strip. The risks of the car swerving at 120mph is quite low?

A 545i is not going to reach 120mph on a 1/4 mile dragstrip.

Make sure your tires are good. Maybe a little less tp than normal. Try a few practice runs to get the feel - you should be fine.

We?re talking about a BMW, right? 120 mph is only 190 km/h. I would wager that plenty of 5ers are driving safely at that speed on highways right this moment.

I have felt perfectly comfortable at 250 km/h.

To make things safer at speed, check tire condition and also for proper inflation.
