Door hit by covered parking that fell! What to do?
A hail storm came though and blew over the cover over my awning.
It looks pretty bad because of the dent and paint and all, but I was wondering how to handle it. Right rear taillight is pretty scratched up, send there might be some scratches down the side. It's still under the rubble, so I can't tell for sure the extent of the other damage.
I called the local dealership and they recommended the Toyota dealership. I was pretty surprised at that one. Not to bash Toyota, but I don't think I want them dealing with my BMW. I also heard that there is BMW certified paint that must be used as well.
As far as damage, any suggestions?

Call your insurance company and file a claim. Take the car to couple of body shops get some estimates.
Read 'comprehensive coverage' section of your insurance policy.

Work with your insurance company and try to locate a body shop with a good warranty. There are a few in my area that warranty their work for as long as one owns the car.
1) If there are issues with the paint in the future, your insurance company will have to stand by their recommendation.
2) Paintless dent removal (PDR) does not work well with non-factory paint. If PDR damages the newly painted area in the future, again, your insurance company will have to stand by their recommendation.
