My wife went to get our daughter out the car yesterday but when she pulled the door handle, the 'back' end that comes out the furthest continued coming (exposing a thin metal rod/bar) - clearly something has broken/disengaged inside the lock mechanism itself.
Anyone encountered this problem? Car is still under warranty, so it should be covered. Problem is, the child lock is engaged, so at this point we are totally unable to open the door.
Car is booked in for first oil service next week, so timing is fortuitous in that respect - I'm assuming this should be easily fixed?
Thanks.

i never had such a problem...im supprised that, this happened...perhaps something hit it and damage it..where do you park...maybe someone tried to steal your car...
should be covered by the warranty either way...keep us updated what caused this if you ever find out...
