Ok, we leased a 2008 528i and loved it. So when I needed a 2nd car, we purchased a CPO 550i.
My lease is up later this year on the 528i and I do not need two E60s. Sooooooooo....decisions on what to replace it with?
Since the 550i is a fairly roomy family car and great for trips etc...I think the 2nd car doesnt have to be as 'roomy' and could be a coupe, but needs to be a 2+2
For BMW I was thinking 3-series of course...and maybe convertible, but they seem to be asking a MINT for the verts and not good lease deals, at least at this time. I have a rental 335i right now and it is nice, but obviously not nearly as smooth/luxurious as the e60. M3 is too much $$$ I dont think they have CPO M3s, correct?
I was at Audi today and really like the S5 but it is pricey as they dont have good finance or lease deals. The A4 vert seems nice but I think they will all be gone before I need to replace the 528i. The new A4 seems roomier than the 3-series and more luxurious, but havent driven it. They mentioned they are coming out with a A5 vert this August..but I am sure they wont offer deals on that. The TT coupe backseat seems too small..
Stopped by Lexus and nothing stirs me....maybe an IS-F but too much $ and maintenance cost.
Mercedes is discontiuing the CLK coupe and vert...so you can get good deals I have heard, but havent driven it. C class seems ok and would be considered.
Cadillac has the CTS...but, I dont know...maybe the CTS-V but, again, $$$
other thoughts? I probably need to nail down a budget. I would probably lease (unless I buy used) and would want the payment <$600 as my 528i payment is in that range now.

My Ride: 2008 550I LOADED, all options except HUD and NV
Just my opinion:
Get the 335 vert, may cost a little more but you'll be happier.
Audi - has never had a design that moved me at all (other than the 80s Quattro)
Lexus - Nice but not a BMW
Cadillac - performance of the CTS-V is close or better than the M5, however, it's a Caddy and they don't inspire confidence in me (unless you're Don "The Magic" Juan of course)
MB - They are for retirees, they have replaced Buick and Cadillac as the car of choice in that segment
Remember, these are just my opinions. Drive a few different ones and get the one you truly enjoy more.

I would have to drive it. I drove an 2005 330i vert w/ performance pkg and it was a bucket of bolts. Creaked, rattled and banged over bumps. I then drove a 2006 premium pkg and it was smooth as silk. Either it was the performance pkg or the car was beaten up. I would expect an M3 feels like the performance pkg?
We saw a Silverstone m3 Vert new at our local dealership showroom and it was gorgeous..even my wife said she would re-learn the manual transmission for that car. But it was $72k msrp.
If I could find a very clean e46 330i convertible 2006 or 2007 (I forget when they stopped...I think 2007). That could work. I liked that interior also, more old school.
