The PS2 is a good tire, I just put a set on my Porsche. I have to say, though, that my original OEM tires, which were Pirelli P Zero Rosso, were just as good. I also don't buy into the "consensus" that the PS2 is head and shoulders better than other tires. If I could have got the Eagle F1 Assymetric in 295/30/19 I would probably have put a set of them on instead. FWIW the PS2s were actually cheaper than the P Zero Rosso's at my local installer, I only went with the PS2 as the PZR's were on backorder in the Porsche N1 spec.

My first question is if you checked the tire pressures. As mentioned, the sidewall on an RFT is much more stiff and gives the impression of better handling.
I would add a few PSI all around and see if that makes a difference. I always run my pressures 3-4 psi over the label (for non-RFT) but below the high speed max load listing.

Also, is the handling issue a "feel" thing or by numbers (you used to take an on ramp at 55 mph but it now squeals at 50)?
Some tires are designed to roll a bit so they use the edge of the sidewall to grip. the RFTs stay very flat (but on the 650i had a short warning before break-away). Other tires may make more noise at the limit but are actually gripping better.

I differ on this point. I've got Falkens 452, and they handle as good or better than Dunlops runflats, wet or dry (especially wet conditions). Though, road noise is just a little better than Dunlops.

And I TOTALLY disagree. I liked the Pilot Sports that came on my M3 but when I replaced them with Bridgestone Pole Position SO3 the car handled way better. I cannot comment on road noise since Led Zeppelin did an excellent job of masking it.
pilot sports were ok decent tires... pilot sport ps2 took a few notches up... hehe

I would also strongly recommend that you experiment with tire pressures.

Remember that you only want to check and adjust "cold" tire pressures, not pressures on a "hot" tire. Driving just short distances can heat the tire and the air inside to the point of distorting your reading.

I recommend that you check the pressures in the morning after the car has been sitting overnight, and before any driving. I would start by setting them to BMW's recommendations. If you are not happy with the way they feel, try a different setting the next day, etc.

If the tires are new, they require a few hundred miles of break-in before they get full performance. Cold air temperatures also effect high performance tires. Like the others have mentioned, try to adjust the pressures to your satisfaction.

I can not decide from this distance if when I hear the word handling if you mean as per american cars or as per european cars? That is, respectively, the ability to handle bumps in the road or the ability to turn.

When I read other posts on this site people glamour for the less harsh ride of non RFT. Others bemoan the turning performance of nonRFT when compared to the stiff walled RFT.

I too have read most, if not all, the threads on tire recommendations and I can understand how you come to that conclusion but the weight I thought was similar for PS2's, the Conti's and the Goodyear's.

I wonder if these tires suit different driving conditions (if not also driving styles). That is a lot of members have "winter" and "summer" tires, denoting I guess coldness requiring different type of tire, whereas I have only one set of tyres that cope with 45 degree C ambient heat down to almost 0 degree C.

Appreciate everyone's input with my predicament.

How much can I increase the tire pressure so that the car wouldn't sway in crosswinds. How come I didn't have this problem with the RFT's. The other thing I've noticed is that these tires are fine on some road surfaces and bad on others.
