Mine turns on everytime I start the car, kind of annoying.

I'm surprised that there isn't a fix for this.

I find myself using manual mode more than auto... I dont like auto blowing strong air out of the vents. In manual mode i turn on the AC to the coolest but the fan pretty slow so I get little COLD air to cool the cabin instead of a lot of cool air blowing all over the place
Precisely how I like my climate control to be. More extreme air temperatures at lower vent strength.

The other thing I hate about the auto mode is the way it automatically adjusts the relative strength of the vents such that it won't blow hot air right at me. The dealer says "warm air directed at the driver makes the driver sleepy" ... well its for me to decide not the car!

Bah...you guys have it good. I have an AUD140k car that whistles at the front a/c vents when fan speed=3 and the technicians claim "it's normal" .... can't wait for a quiter a/c system in my upcoming 540i

I have no complaints with the A/C coming on. leaving it in auto regulates the temp perfectly. I do, however, sometimes turn it off or down if I get in the car when it is hot and get on the phone and the A/C is blowing full speed trying to cool the car...so I turn it down so people can hear me better.

i almost never adjust the a/c.. it took a while to get used to the absence of cold air constantly hitting my face to the point where now it's something i've lost touch with. good work, bmw.

you know what kicks ass.. that 'automatic vent' feature that keeps out bad smells. works like a charm.

Technicians seems to have an amazing to claim that everything is "normal" ... as if they've given up on perfection ... i guess we should be glad they aren't designers instead!
