Does US Nav warn you about traffic jams and route you around them?

If not, how likely is it that current nav systems will be upgradeable to add this capability in the future?

No, it does not.

And it is unlikely any time soon.

Such information does not come via GPS, it comes via other telematics systems (such as BMW Online in Germany). It also relies on information coming from a municipality or other government entity who is doing such traffic monitoring AND provides such information to external entities (such as OnStar-type services). This sort of thing is uncommon in the US except in certain markets and large cities, and even then, requires cooperation and communication between the agency and the telematics provider.

Will this come at some point? Yes. Will it come in the US while the E60 is still a currently manufactured vehicle or will existing E60s be able to upgraded to such capability in the US? Very, very unlikely.

Accura currently have satellite cmmunication with XM NavTraffic. It's a system with XM satellites.

So if the current e60 owner with Nav and XM radio. Maybe, I said maybe you can get software upgrade in the future. ^_^

The TMC combined with the Dynamic route function works really well in the UK. Real Time traffic information is transmitted via a national radio station (Classic FM).

I hope you have this function in the US soon as I see this feature as a huge leap forward over my previous experience with Sat Nav ( The very good Jaguar touch screen Sat Nav)

New Garmin Nav has the feature but it requires tapping to FM line.
