Default Does a replacement used IHKA have to be recoded?

Hi everyone,

Simple question. After much troubleshooting it's clear that my IHKA is not putting out a signal to engage the relay for the heated rear glass. It's not work since I have owned the car (few months) and am pretty sure the IHKA is at fault. I want to get a used unit and install, will this need coding? I have the cable and software installed (and it works) but I am unfamiliar with it enough where I am not confident about coding modules yet.

Thanks you!

Have you pulled the codes from the IHKA module using a BMW comparable OBD code reader and not a generic reader or BMW software, such as INPA or ISTA or one of the other BMW software packages? Anything else is just guessing.

I have INPA but I haven't really used it yet. I can try pulling the codes.

The IHKA module needs coding, if not it will use the setings and parameters from the other car not yours. The simple way to do that is with NCS Expert. I can help you, remote coding via Teamviewer.

Thanks for the confirmation Vlad. I will go ahead and try to pull any codes first then move forward. I may take you up on the offer to help.

As already stated, the IHKA will need coding. I have made that switch before. First change the VIN number then use a blank .man file to take it back to new. I have a couple tutorials if Vlad doesn't workout.

Gee 115, could you post/share those tutorials, as I need to perform the same procedure. Thanks.
