Herb, thanks for the pics.

Maybe cars without nav behave this way? It certainly gives me hope that sooner or later a software update will be able to add this to our cars.

I'll be interested in hearing how many others can get theirs to work this way...

Isn't this just RDS data refresh?? When i've looked at the stream (on a PC FM decoder) it's just refreshed data, not a special new dataset. Anyone else seeing otherwise? When I lived in Germany several stations did songs via updating the RDS info, this worked on my E46 there with the Bus radio NO problem (a 2002 model). Here in the US this works as well on my Z4 radio. In the UK I've yet to see *ANY* station refresh the RDS display with anything other than the station name.

Sorry; wasn't logged in... I'm the last unregistered post

Added to comment that it looks like on programmed stations the radio never tries to refresh the RDS data, hence no song/track info??

Radiotext is broadcast in the uk on analog FM stations, just very very few recievers are geared up to display it, we have a jvc minisystem in the kitchen that does when you press the "display " button, it toggles between TIME, RDS STATION and RADIOTEXT. its the radiotext setting that gives the scrolling song/artist/news etc display

So I can confirm the data is being broadcast in the UK.

On the contrary...I'm probably one of the only guys that thinks it is useful.

I'm a licenced Radio amateur and have callsign MM1ANP.....I often scan the shortwavebands to find out what the likely propogation is with regard to weather/sun conditions, lets me know whether I should bother going on-air etc.

I do realise that shortwave is bugger-all use to non-hams out there.

For anyone interested, I'm running a Kenwood TS940 SAT at 150 Watts RF through a sgc 130 matcher to a random 70ft wire......gets me to australia/fiji/cook islands from scotland without much trouble.
