Wouldn't a delay occur if you pressed lightly at first and then really got on the pedal and activated the ABS?

I'd say that's a likely scenario. You probably have to really mash the pedal to cause everything to come on at once.

Its not really measured on how hard you step on the brake pedal.
Obviously if you carried out an emergency brake you will be on the pedal real quick. Sensors on the car will monitor how aggressive the deceleration is and activate the BFD.

When we practiced emergency brakeing during the BMW driver training in Munich I watched the brakelights of the other cars. And they were braking real hard from the very beginning. The brake lights came on, and shortly after that the BFD activated more lights, so it was a visible second step.
Off course... a 3series... The 5 seems to be different from what we read here...

It wasn't the new 3series... They use regular MY04 330i's for drivers training...

The 3 series coupe (2-door) have the LEDs.
I don't think the 4-door 3 series have the LEDs though. Probably just like the E60s they just have the normal bulbs. I saw somewhere pictures of what happens to each of the cars in the range when BFD is activated. Anyone have any ideas where these pictures are? They showed each car in the BMW range with the BFD activated.
