I am about to buy a 550i and I wanted to ask you E60 owners if people give stares or a quick glance is it a car that gets any attention or it just blends in with the crowd?
Only 2 occasions. The first one was by 3 people walking on the sidewalk. The man pointing at my E60 and said something to other 2 women. The second one was a guy in a white Maximum, lowering his window and said "nice car ".

Yes.

As long as it grabs my attention, I'm happy.

I do get comments pretty often - usually guys saying if they could have one car for everything, the 545 is it. However, driving it is what should make you happy.

Is there any benefit to having people being impressed? I don't think so. However, flashier cars do get keyed more often.

I get comments from the people in the neighborhood but that is because 1/2 of the driveway has an M3 and the other half a 545 So I guess I deserve any bad rumors or comments or complements that are caused by that.

I drove a e46 M3 before I had my e60 545i. I think the M3 got more attention, and probably not all of it good. It was vandalized one evening as it sat outside a hospital while I was in working. The 545i will get some glances but I don't have kids trying to race me at stop lights and I don't worry about it as much when I'm in at work. I will still get the thumbs up now and then and it's usually from younger drivers.

It gets as much attention as a:

AMC Gremlin
Yugo
Ford Fiesta
Chevy Chevette
Dodge Neon (with the neon running lights)
Isusu Amigo
You have no idea what you are talking about. My first car was an orange 72 Pinto wagon with the wood decals on the side. Now THAT was an attention grabber

I miss Pintos and Gremlins....wasn't it the Gremlin that had a commercial showing a young woman pulling into a gas station, and the attendant walks up (shows you how OLD the commercial is.....or me!!) to the car....takes a quick look at the vehicle, and says, "what happened to the rest of your car, toots?" Another classic was the AMC Pacer........I mean....people really bought those things!!

I get quite a bit of glances in my neighbourhood... Most of it positive, I do have aftermarket wheels and ACS kit on the car so i'd say thats why..

However, it draws the negatvie attention as well, as the car was vandalized a few months back when i was at the grocery store getting medicine for my baby girl.

at times the attention is nice, but than you have to worry about the car in some places and i dont like that... 90% the area's here are safe. but than again you dont know whose watching you and youre car.
