I dont know about these other guys, but I get thumbs up and many comments when getting gas etc. Especially when the car is clean. I do think that the M-Aero kit has alot to do with it, because in my opinion the front of the normal E60 is hidious!!!

Two part answer
Yes, I get a lot of attention from my neighbors who all know what I spent on my car. A certain neighbor started blabbing when I ordered my car and now the whole neighborhood talks about it. The newest rumor is that it cost $100K![Frown](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/sad.gif)
But driving, I don't think I've ever been noticed. I'm betting something like the new Lexus GS will get you more looks IMHO.

My Ride: '04 545iS 6 spd, bought new via eBay, 11/05; Blk/Gry, Cold, L7, PDC, BMW Rear seatcover for pets.
First "Bumwa" was a new 1971 2002. High performance 5s since 1987. Beamer motorcycles too, currently on an 07 BMW K1200 GT; also a Moto Guzzi 1000 SP III.

Depends on whom you wish to notice or look. College-age kids and up seem to look twice. Unfortunately, a lot of redneck pickup truckers seem to notice negatively/aggressively. Interestingly, when I had a rented Hemi Charger, it drew a whole different demographic of younger stares.
Cops have no idea what the trunk badge designations mean and therefore, assume it's another luxo barge. Fine in my book when I'm rolling at 20+ the limit.
Curiously, even insurance companies don't pay much attention. Twice (Aetna and Travelers) have taken about 20 mos into my policies to figure out what's under the hood, and send me a note saying my premiums now reflect "high performance ratings."
I have always appreciated the LOW KEY/high performance approach (typical German understatement). Over the years, in the USA market, obviously BMW has taken on a whole new pretetentious cache that annoys me, but they still produce the goods, so I still pay the price.
Cheers,
Ray Hull

I get a lot of compliments and have had people come up to me at gas stations a lot. I've also had people start talking to me at red lights. All positive comments.

Wow. To read some of these posts you'd think that the one of the most innovative, stunning but controversially polarizing auto designs in recent memory somehow fades into blandly anonymous obscurity unless you've put on a new front bumper or stuck a spoiler on the back

Not overly so; although I will note that when I'm on a date with a new chick, she is always amazed with the car. Probably all the techno-pop stuff in the cabin that's about to break at any second.
Also, it tends to grab at least some attention when I roll into a meeting and everyone else there drives a shitbox.

Mine gets a lot of attention but that may just be because I normally drive nude.
