More specifically, do you let people valet park for you? Personally I never like to let other people touch my car but I have no choice sometimes but to let people valet park for me. I was in this parking garage and saw these people in Hotel Uniform collecting customers' car and they were like racing each other down the garage. WTF, does these people care about other's property? I really take good care of my car (and we all do on this forum) but just the thought that these people are racing in my car deters me from handing the key over. How about you guys?

If I can avoid, I do not let others drive my car, including valets. I have a disabled placard because of a bad left hip from a motorcycle wreck about 35 years ago. So, usually I can avoid the valets and can park in a close protected space. If I can't do so, then I find an end spot and very carefully enter with my RHS close to the curb--hoping that whoever parks next to me does not have anyone on the passenger side if they park too close despite my efforts.

It happens all the time but we need to learn how to live with that.

I'm wondering how I'm going to deal with Comfort Access and the Start/Stop button at the car wash.

(And yes, I do take my car to a car wash. I live in Wisconsin and have no choice during the winter months. That, and it's just a car.)

I'm thinking that I will have no choice but to leave the fob in its slot, but either way, I'm left trying to explain to people who don't speak English how to either stop the engine (if I leave the fob in), or to NOT stop it (if I take the fob with me). Something just rubs me the wrong way about people trying to "turn" the fob in its slot to turn the car on or off...

I imagine some SMG owners have had similar experiences with people not knowing WTF to do...

Yup, some people just don't get it no matter how you explain. But doesn't have this problem here in Hong Kong, the problem is valet parkers are too familiar with nice cars that's why they race in them down the parking garage.

I guess location is a big factor in this topic...

I live in Manhattan so everyday I park the car at a garage where its valet'ed.

Every once in a while I take the car to the car wash where the attendants drive the car.

Oh yeah, I'll let my friends and family drive too if they want.

Not really.
My car is SMG and it hasn't been an issue so far. I think M3 SMG's are common enough now that the attendants know how to drive them.

I never let anyone Valet park my car.

My wife drives it on very rare occassions & the only other people are the dealers when I take the car in. But then before handing over the car to them, I spend 10mins going around the whole car with them & then I cross out all the fineprint & specify on the work order that they are fully liable for any damage caused to the car whilst it is in their hands.

Nope, not a chance someone valets my car. I agree with your approach on the rest of it as well.

Luckily, I can walk most everywhere in my neighborhood so I don't generally find myself in these situations. It's a zoo though - my Golds Gym has valet parking, as does my Whole Foods. The Whole Foods is a mess - there's usually a parking lot attendant directing the fools who park themselves and you can easily spend as much time getting a spot as you might in the store doing your shopping. Ridiculous.
