My Ride: 2006 525XI, Jet black on Dakota beige. Premium and winter packages. I consider myself a purist and intend to keep my car absolutely stock and shiny.
2008 328I Convertible, Sapphire black on beige interior. Premium package, NAV, iPod adapter.
Retired: 2002 325I, Titanium silver on black leather. Premium package. Absolutely stock and proud of it.
My knob feels quite sturdy while I drive. BTW, keeping your hand on the knob for extensive periods of time can cause blindness....

During my research in touching the knob, i have learned that resisting to touch your knob, especially while driving can cause extreme knob withdrawl and a tendancy to bitch at your girlfriend excessively. So unless you want and angry knob, and a bitchy girlfriend... Touch your damn knob.
The term "Shifter" would not fit in this description. A shifter can be described as something moved in an aggresive manner, and a necessary operation to change gears. See the term "Knob" is referencing something completely different. It can be described as an object for resting your plam while using the paddle shift option(changing gears). Which is exactly what i like to do.. I like to Paddle... while resting my hand on my knob.
